Fire Risk Assessments

We are here to help you understand what you need to be doing to ensure conformance to the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.

Fire Risk Assessments

Since the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, Fire Risk Assessments are required to be carried out to reduce the risk of a fire occurring and to ensure all occupants can quickly and safely evacuate from the premises.

Under The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005: part 2: section 9 – “The responsible person must make a suitable and sufficient assessment of the risks to which relevant persons are exposed for the purpose of identifying the general fire precautions he needs to take to comply with the requirements and prohibitions imposed on him by or under this Order.” Employers (and/or building owners or occupiers) must carry out a fire safety risk assessment and keep it up to date. Based on the findings of the assessment, employers need to ensure that adequate and appropriate fire safety measures are in place to minimise the risk of injury or loss of life in the event of a fire.
